Wishpot Baby Experts’ Most Memorable Halloween Costumes: Quick Question Thursday

This week I asked our Wishpot Baby Experts the following quick question:

"What was your most memorable Halloween costume when you were a kid?"

And here are their answers:

Nicole_rainbow_brite_2
My most memorable Halloween costume would have to be one of the many that my talented mom made me. This one is probably my favorite (that I remember). I think I was a pretty darn cute Rainbow Brite, if i do say so myself! Not only was the costume itself adorable but I can actually remember loving that makeup job too. Now I’m hoping that she still has it packed away somewhere so my daughter can wear it in a few years!  -Mom Expert Nicole

Nothing fancy, but one Halloween I was a clown. It was like the bestcostume I’ve had because my mother would always buy me the cheap plastic costumes that would split down the crotch almost instantly, lol! -Mom Expert Sheena

Oh, that’s easy! For several years in a row, I went as a Hershey Kiss. My mom sewed me a great costume out of silver lame, and I sort of had the kiss shape pre-costume. :-) It was perfect! -Mom Expert Tara

My most memorable Halloween costume was a purple genie outfit that was handmade by a friend of the family.  To top it off, my cousin, a professional makeup artist, made a surpise appearance to transform me into what I imagined to be the most authentic genie ever! -Mom Expert Cecelia

My most memorable Halloween Costume was a Yellow Felt Crayon costume that my mom made for me. I felt like a million bucks in it and was CERTAIN that I would win the costume prize. Unfortunately my brother in his cherub like loveliness won in his handmade felt pumpkin. I was devastated, but in
hindsight, he did look far cuter than me! -Mom Expert Faith

Hands down an awesome cat costume that my mother made out of fake fur. Wore that thing for a good three years. It even had a hood!  So sad that I don’t have a picture to show you! -Mom Expert Jessica

Oh, you will laugh at how totally ’80s this is. I was Patty Smythe from that video for, "The Warrior," with the spiked hair, crazy makeup, bad torn dress, the whole thang. I swear. I am not making this up. I looked just like this. Only, like, a preteen.  -Mom Expert Kelby

I would say my most memorable costume when I was a kid was a "bluebird" costume my grandmother made me for a musical I was in called Music Machine.  It was so cute that I wanted to wear it for Halloween.  It even had an orange beak and orange felt feet that went over the tops of my Keds.  Loved it! -Mom Expert Courtney

My mom often bought me those costumes that came in a box with a clear, plastic cover and consisted of a plastic mask and a plastic "outift".  I loved the year that I dressed up as Strawberry Shortcake.  Of course in Pennsylvania, it’s not unheard of for it to snow on Halloween, so I’m sure that I trick-or-treated that year with a winter coat over the costume. :) -Mom Expert Amy

Great one! Can’t wait to see all the answers. I was dressed like a fisherman and my mom glued a jar to top of my fishing hat with a goldfish in it. Note: use a fake goldfish, we didn’t and poor thing went gills up by the end of the day from all the shaking on top of my head I think! -Mom Expert Kristen

I never had Halloween. Ever.
But if we had costume parties, I was always Pippi Longstocking. -Mom Expert Katja

I was Cousin It. We threaded what seemed like a million long pieces of yarn
through the holes in a mesh baseball cap. It took FOREVER, but I was
completely hidden by the "hair" when I put it on. -Mom Expert Mandi

Not sure what age, I’m assuming 8ish, my friend and I were a pair of dice.
We both "wore" cardboard boxes that we painted white with black dots!  How
creative and FREE!  {I miss free costumes since I’m already over $60 deep in
costumes for the kiddies this year} Check out Babyluxe {daily} on Friday the 3rd for our Halloween Costume Feature!  And on The Winning Pitch, every Monday and Friday throughout the month of October we will bring you Halloween related goodies! - Mom Expert Dana

I remember I was once Rainbow Brite (vinyl knee length apron type outfit with matching….uh, creepy….plastic mask).  And the only reason I mention this one is because it is the only one I can remember, so I must have been a really boring kid! -Mom Expert Jen

The most memorable Halloween costume for me was when I was six. I was a fairy. I wore the cute little sequined blue dance costume from my ballet recital the previous year and my dad made me a wand with a big glittery star at the end. I won a Susan B. Anthony silver dollar for "Prettiest Costume" in the school contest. I still remember getting to go up on the stage in front of the whole school to get my prize. I swore I was Miss America! -Mom Expert Shannan

My most memorable costume as a child was the one my mom and me made
together - a washing machine! We took a box, painted it white, cut the top
open for my head, and had laundry glued sticking out of the hole. We painted
the nozzles and such on it, and had laundry rubber banded to my head and
around my neck too! -Mom Expert Lisa

  1. I adore this post. I think it truly shows the most memorable things as a child are the things that our moms made for us.

  2. I actually WANTED to be a potato one year. My mom made me a potato costume! The next year I used the same costume to dress up as “Mr. Peanut.”
I was definitely the only 4th grader dressed as Mr. Peanut.
