Today’s truly thought-provoking post from Mom Expert Jen of Jenny 867-53oh9 will make you look within yourself and give some perspective as we move through this new year.

I
stink at resolutions. And I’m not the only one in that boat.
We always seem to get revved up just to end up losing focus. We get
frustrated and vow to never make another resolution! Until the next
year. A few years ago I switched my resolution energy over to
inventory management. I call my inventory, Core Feelings.

My
father used to always tell me (in so many words), “Focus on
facts and not feelings.” I like to think my Core Feelings
cover both. What is fact in my life and how do I feel about it?

This
is my Core Feelings for 2009:

I
want peace and quiet.  I want to be content no matter what
is going on around me.  I want to be sincere.

I
think I have a lot on my plate.  I think I snap at the kids too
quickly. I think I try to please people too much.

I
need to love and be loved. I need a good, restful nights sleep. I
need to refill my Synthroid!

I
regret snapping at the boys too much.  I regret the times that I
don’t say something because of fear of judgment.  I regret
the times that I do
say something when silence would have been so much better.

I
enjoy visiting my mum. I enjoy curling up in bed, with a good book
on a rainy day.

I
dream to live overseas again. I dream that the boys will grow up to
be stable, fun-loving and God-fearing men.  I dream of a day
when…..

I hate
what fear does to people.  I hate getting in the way of who God
wants me to be.

I
like teasing my husband.  I like sit outside, drinking sweet tea
while watching the boys play with the neighborhood kids.  I like
having the whole bed to myself…sometimes.

I
dread losing the mommy connection with my sons.  I dread passing
down fears and worries to my kids.  I dread conversations that
have anything to do with religion, politics and money.

I
need to learn to relax more and worry less.  I need to remember
how to laugh at people’s quirks (as well as my own).  I
need to spend more time with Hulkman (brother with Down syndrome)…he
makes me laugh.

I love
watching my husband play with the boys.  I love listening to him
talk to a crowd.  I love when my boys bust out a sincere,
belly-grabbing laugh.  I love watching a child have an a-ha
moment during a life’s lesson.

What
are your Core Feelings? I want to encourage you to write them down.
Then read them out loud to yourself. Were you transparent? Did you
hold back? Then do it again. This inventory management sheet is for
you; no one else. Now hang it where you will see it the most. For
me it’s by my shoes…I’m always second-guessing
myself on sole apparel!

It’s
okay to dread, it’s ok to need and it’s definitely ok to
be angry sometimes. But don’t forget the likes, the loves and
the dreams.

After giving our Mom Experts a little break for the holidays…Wishpot Baby is ready to face 2009!  Our economy has seen better days and Wishpot’s deal alerts are a great way to keep an eye on deals and bargains.

So now, without further ado… Wishpot Mom Expert Dana of Babyluxe Daily and The Winning Pitch starts off the New Year with her plans for 2009.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Resolution time! How does a mom or Dad make resolutions? Does it have to involve the kids since everything else does? 2009 should be the year of creative and unique resolutions!

No more: work out more, diet, go to church EVERY Sunday, stop speeding, spend more time with the hubby {and less time on the internet}, stop swearing, give up chocolate, listen to the kids more, ask for that raise, blah blah, boring. GOOD ones of course, ones we should all be doing on a daily basis all year every year, but boring. I want everyone to dig deep and find something, let’s say selfish, as their New Year’s Resolution for 2009!

For example, I have a couple:

“My New Year’s Resolution is to NOT go back to work. Let me explain that one a bit so you see where I am coming from, it’s a bunch of little resolutions all in one: I was laid off at the end of November 2008 from my career in the mortgage industry. From that point on I’ve been working to start my own company with a partner that will allow us to both work from home, stop paying nannies, and be with our children everyday but still have a career we love and make a ton of money off of! So basically, I do NOT want to return to the corporate world this year, I want to work from the couch typing away with one hand and changing a diaper with the other!”

“And secondly, I will NOT be cleaning my house this year. Again, explanation: how many waking hours do us moms {and Dads of course} spend cleaning the house? For us neat freaks, it’s hundreds of hours a year wasted on cleaning things that will be dirty again minutes later…so, my house will be dirtier this year. No, I’m not going to stop cleaning my house all together, I would love to but that may have some serious consequences. But, there’s no need to mop the kitchen when the kids are staring at you to play or clean the ceiling fans while hubby is watching your favorite shows alone…nope, not this year, the fans can wait, the floor will still be dirty after playtime is over.”

What are your fun and different resolutions this year? We would love to hear them!

Happy New Year again everyone!
