A big trend right now is classic red lipstick. This is a bold style that’s fun to play with, and I’m excited to see how popular it is this season.
The only downside to vivid red lips is that they can really draw attention to yellow teeth, not to mention make them look even more yellow, which is absolutely the quickest way to ruin your look. Three ways to guarantee a bright, white smile when baring red lips:
1) Pick up some teeth whitening strips. I think Crest 3-D White Advanced Vivid White Strips are the best. They stick to your teeth really well, even when you talk

or drink water.
2) Try a red lipstick with bluish undertones. This makes your teeth look brighter. Try L’Oreal Color Riche in True Red or Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Red Revival.
3) Use whitening toothpaste. Once again, I like Crest 3-D White Advanced Vivid Fluoride Tootpaste. It’s the best way to keep your teeth white after you’ve used the whitening strips by continuing to brighten them and removing stains every time you brush.
Don’t let your yellow teeth attract negative attention or stop you from participating in this fun trend. Add any of these drugstore.com products to your wish list and rock red lips this season!

Stila Tinted Moisturizer courtesy of Sephora
December is almost here and it’s just the time when our complexions start suffering the most. The cold air dries out the skin on our faces and leaves it looking blotchy and uneven. Plus, that healthy summer-time radiance is long gone.
Luckily Sephora has a one-stop solution to all of these problems! The Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer is amazing. First of all, it’s an oil free moisturizer, so it keeps your skin from getting dried out without clogging your pores or causing you to break out.
The slight tint evens out your skin and covers up blotches while adding a healthy glow, but it’s subtle enough that it still looks completely natural. Slapping on a little bit in the morning is a really quick and easy way to perk up your skin and look fresh-faced without using a heavy concealer or powder. Sephora has a bunch of shades so you can find which one works best for your skin tone.
Even better, it has SPF 20, which is great because we all know that even the clouds don’t stop harmful UV rays that damage skin and cause premature aging.
Simply put, the Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer does it all. Add it to your wish list to look great, simplify your beauty routine, and hydrate and protect your skin!

Pink Grapefruit Body Butter courtesy of The Body Shop
If you ever suffer from dry skin, you have to try Cocoa Butter Body Butter from The Body Shop. It’s thick and creamy, so it keeps your skin moisturized all day and leaves it feeling really soft and smooth. Even better, it doesn’t leave you with that slick, greasy feeling like some lotions.
With winter time and extra dry skin just around the corner, now is the perfect time to add Cocoa Butter Body Butter to your wish list and get proactive about taking care of your skin.

Olive Body Butter courtesy of The Body Shop
The best part is, if cocoa butter isn’t your first choice, The Body Shop has tons of fragrances to choose from. If you want something fruity there’s strawberry, mango, and pink grapefruit.
Or, if you prefer something a little lower key, take a look at brazil nut, almond, and my personal favorite, coconut. You can also try the floral moringa.
Click here to check out the rest of their delicious scents!
Can’t decide what you want? No problem, a medium sized container of the body butter is normally $18, but The Body Shop has a special deal where you can buy three for $30, so you don’t have to pick just one for your wish list!

While I was over at Refinery 29, I came across a shiny (literally!) new product. Lancome’s French Touch Absolu limited edition lipstick comes in a beautiful berry rose shade. But what really caught my eye is the tube! A nod to the 70’s, the tube is silver and shiny like a disco ball. I’m not sure if it’s actually made of glass, but it’s still just as glam. Unfortunately, the lipstick is out of stock online! But add it to your wish list so you don’t forget to buy it!
If the berry-rose shade doesn’t appeal to you, Lancome has some other great lipsticks. The Lancome L’absolu Rouge comes in two cute-for-spring shades: lily rose and daisy rose. With moisturizing Pro-Xylane and vitamin E, and sun-protecting SPF 12, you’ll feel good swiping it on.
For a similar lipstick at a fraction of the price ($8.49 compared to $35 for Lancome’s French Touch Absolu or $29 for L’absolu Rouge), try the Neutrogena MoistureShine Lipstick. With their own Brazilian Palm Butter moisturizer and SPF 20 sunscreen, it’s a beauty-buy steal. It comes in 15 shades like angel’s blush, berry burst, and peach-a-boo, so you can try a ton of colors without breaking the bank.
What new shade of lipstick do you want to wear this spring?

A few years back, I watched a talk show that featured beauty products from the cult favorite, Carol’s Daughter. On the show, Carol’s Daughter founder, Lisa Price, and a few celebrity guests created some kind of mask made of completely natural, yummy ingredients. I recently visited a Sephora to try out a few of her products to find out what all of the hype was about. Carol’s Daughter boasts delectable products with a cocktail of nourishing oils, rich body creams, and moisturizing hair products. I am definitely a bath and body product junkie so I just had to try out Carol’s Daughter’s body oils and creams and I highly recommend them. One more added bonus about this brand is that you can feel good about use of these products because they are all natural, with absolutely no testing on animals.
I really enjoyed the sweet scent of the Almond Cookie Collection. The combination of almond, vanilla, and sandalwood create this beautiful warm, sweet scent. Included in this collection is the Eau de Toilette Spray, the Almond Cookie Shea Souffle (my fave!), and the Almond Cookie Body Cleansing Gel.
Another favorite product that Carol’s Daughter sells is the Sweet Honey Dip Chocolate Brown Sugah Scrub. This delectable product smells just as good as it sounds! The combination of the brown sugar crystals and aromatic oils work to polish away dead skin cells, leaving the skin soft, hydrated, and vibrant.
Carol’s Daughter also makes some great hair care products. A notable product from this line is the Rosemary Mint Purifying Shampoo. This product removes all of the residue build-up from styling products. It helps to restore the hair to its naturally shiny, healthy state. I loved how the mint ingredient invigorated the scalp and created a tingling sensation. My scalp actually felt clean after use of this product so definitely another recommendation for a deep cleansing shampoo.
Cheers!

You can never win with the changing weather seasons; the unnatural air from your car heater or air conditioner will deplete the skin of its moisture either way. Having dry skin is uncomfortable and it can make the skin look more aged than it actually is. Yikes!
So what did Nissan do to counter this? Nissan has recently designed and announced its ’good-for-you’ technology, which will enhance its new car models in the next two or three years. One of the technologies that stood out to me was the air conditioning upgrade that spritzes your skin with Vitamin C infused air. This potent antioxidant will help prevent skin damage and wrinkles by counteracting skin-aging free radicals. It also helps to keep the skin moist, hydrated, and vibrant, since the air inside the car will carry a little more humidity. I cannot wait to see this technology in action because all too often after I have been in my car with the air conditioning on full blast, I need to use my moisture surge spray to get my skin back to normal.
Another technology that will be featured in the up incoming Nissan’s are the comfy “easy chair” seats designed by NASA. These seats are intended to improve the blood flow and supposedly will allow for a much more comfortable drive. These innovative features are sure to be a hit and if turning on the air conditioning means a better complexion, then count me in!

With all of your endless summer expenses ranging from trips to cute swimsuits to fun activities, there may not be much left in your budget for impulsive beauty buys. You really do not have to max out the credit cards for beauty products, as long as you know what is best to save on and what you can splurge (a little) on.
-Know what your preferences are and what you prefer to save on and spend on. A cleanser is a product that you can generally save on since it is only on your skin for about 20 seconds, but probably spend a little extra for a good moisturizer. I use a cleanser from Clean & Clear, since I am still prone to breakouts. If you have dry skin, use a more hydrating cleanser like the one from Cetaphil.
-Buying your sunscreens at the drugstore is also a great way to save. Brands to check-out include: Coppertone and Banana Boat
-There are some great makeup brands found at the drugstore for a more reasonable price and a comparable quality to some of the products that you find at your local cosmetics counter. Some of the drugstore brands are associated with top department store brands (Estee Lauder, which owns MAC and Clinique, is behind all of the beauty brands found at Kohl’s and L’Oreal owns Maybelline and Lancome so it is also associated with a high-quality brand). Target also features brands created by popular makeup artists: Jemma Kidd and Sonia Kashkuk.
-Other ways to save:
- Clip coupons from magazines or the paper
- Stock up when your favorite products are on sale
- Wait for gift time at your favorite cosmetics counter so you can take advantage of good size freebies
- Go to outlet cosmetic stores (usually overstocked or discontinued items show up at these stores)
- Shop around at various online stores: Amazon, Drugstore, Beauty, and even Sephora can run great specials
- Sign up at your favorite cosmetics site to hear about promotions or freebies
Cheers!

Breakouts can be the WORST and they always seem to show up on the very day that is the most inconvenient, usually one involving lots of picture-taking (i.e. a date, a wedding, an event, etc.). I have been there one too many times. That is until I realized that there were certain products that were specifically aggravating my skin and causing the flare-ups. One of my problems is I have sensitive skin and it can easily become inflamed from certain oils. Little did I know until after a few weeks of research, was that one of my foundations contained pig fats in it (the things they put in your beauty products will amaze you). Once I stopped using this foundation, the breakouts became a lot less frequent. Here are some other steps for you to help prevent your own future breakouts:
-Make sure to clean off all of your makeup before bed! This is one of the easiest steps to follow and can bring you major results. Cleanse your skin once in the morning as well, but no more than that. Any extra cleansing of the skin will strip the skin of essential oils and could cause the skin to produce more oil than it needs.
-Be sure to exfoliate a couple of times a week. This is crucial for eliminating dead skin cells that could potentially clog the pores and in turn lead to breakouts.
-Use products that contain Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide. These ingredients are essential for combating breakouts. If I do get a breakout, I always spot treat it with a cream containing Benzoyl Peroxide and the spot clears right up within a day or two.
-Read labels! Use products that are non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic, or oil-free. These will not clog pores and should not lead to breakouts.
-If your skin has a flare up, don’t fret (it only makes it worse). Just gently cleanse, tone, and spot treat the area with a pimple cream, and cover it up with an oil-free concealer with a yellowish tint to camouflage the redness.
-If all else fails and you still tend to inconveniently breakout, visit a dermatologist and he/or she should be able to prescribe the best over the counter acne product for your needs.
Cheers!

If you are looking for a way to enhance your beauty routine, then try a beauty treatment every so often to help get the results that you desire. I found so great beauty treatments to add to your beauty wish list. These range from face, to hair, to body treatments and only take as little as a few minutes to less than 20 minutes to complete.

Having chapped lips is not much fun (this is probably why I obsessively apply my lip gloss) because it can be uncomfortably painful and it makes your lipstick look uneven and clumpy. A great preventative treatment for chapped lips is using an exfoliator specifically for the lips. H.wood.beauty makes a wonderful product called h.wood.lips Lip Tea Scrub. This product will polish up your lips and slough away dry, dead skin and promote youthful-looking lips. It also makes your lipstick/lip gloss go on wonderfully! I like it in the flavor Peppemint Anise.
If you are looking to enhance your hair mask or the effectiveness of an oil treatment, then try the Cordless Thermal Turban Heat Wrap. I did not realize that I needed this product until after I actually tried it out. The way that this product works is the heat from the hair wrap relaxes and opens the hair follicle up so that the oil or mask can deeply penetrate and repair dry and damaged hair.

A great body treatment, which can double as a face treatment is Borghese’s Fango Brillante Brightening Mud Mask for Face and Body. This treatment will nourish, illuminate, and purify your skin from head to toe so no need to go to an expensive spa :)! The mud ingredient in this product works to eliminate impurities in the skin, leaving your skin toned, moisturized, and luxuriously soft.

Looking to change or update your hairstyle without walking into the salon? How about trying a cute headband out to compliment your style? Headbands can range from simple, casual to beautifully elegant. They are a great addition to your look, are easy to pull off, and can make you look elegant without barely trying.

Simple/Casual Headbands: The Tasha ‘Little Polka Dots’ Head Wrap has a cute polka dot pattern in a variety of colors. This headband/head wrap is great for lazy days at the beach or for shopping when you don’t want to fuss with your hair.
Another great, simple headband is the Ficcare Swarovski Crystal Headband. This simple, yet elegant headband could go into either category. You can either dress it up or down because it will look great with jeans or a dress. I love this look with a bouffant as seen on the model.

Dressy/Elegant Headbands: The Tasha ‘Simple Sparkle’ Headband, although simple, can be played up as dressy and looks perfect with a dress. Since it is embellished with gems in a metal headband, it will go with just about any color dress or outfit.
The headbands with flowers that grace the side are so cute these days and look perfect with your ‘going out’ outfit or dress. I love the Tasha ‘Perfect Bouquet’ Headband in light pink. This hair accessory features two lush flowers gracing the side of the satin-covered headband. It looks great with a loose up-do or with a great blowout.
Cheers!
