Royalty Bargain Shopping? No comments yet

We all love seeing what celebs are wearing these days, but did you know that even the most well known public figures go bargain shopping? It’s great to know that even with all the money in the world, even Kate Middleton loves a great deal. Here’s a great blog by “The Hollywood Gossip”:

“Just because she’s royalty doesn’t mean she’s lost her sense … fashion or common.

Savvy shopper that she is, Duchess Kate Middleton took advantage of some end-of-season sales and hit London’s Chelsea neighborhood this week in search of good deals.

Was her endeavor successful? What did she find?

The People's Princess

An onlooker says the royal, who just turned 30 earlier this month, shopped at the store Anonymous by Ross+Bute, trying on some new pieces from the spring and summer collection, including a pink cardigan and boots.

Sshe decided on a marked-down Jewel Collar V-Neck Top, a grey, form-fitting merino lightweight sweater accented with a bejeweled necklace attached along the neckline.

It was on sale for 84.50 GBP, $129 USD (from 169 GBP, $259 USD).

While checking out with her only purchase, the Duchess paused and admired a clutch bag, but decided not to buy it. Her visit to the shop lasted about 20 minutes.

“She was really polite, well-spoken and mentioned she would be coming back in the future,” an onlooker adds, not that anyone would be surprised by that.

The last time Kate Middleton was photographed out in public was when she walked the red carpet with her husband, Prince William, at the War Horse premiere.

Even her 30th birthday, which was the day after, was spent in a low-key manner, when she held an intimate dinner with family and friends in private quarters.

She has also been seen walking on the beach in Wales with her new puppy!”

We found this great bargain, east5th’s Long Cashmere Blend Coat.

An absolute steal of a deal, at $90! Stay warm AND fashionable in this gorgeous 3 button trench. After all, you’ve always thought you were a queen!

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… Scientists and engineers just created the largest piece of clothing ever made from spiders! Gizmodo provided this great post about the spider web piece.

“I admit that it looks a bit like your grandparents’ bath towels, but this is actually the largest piece of clothing ever made purely from spider silk.

Sadly, it’s not bulletproof or anything like that. What it is is very, very yellow. In fact, it gets its hue from the undyed filaments of the golden orb spider, a species of arachnid commonly found in Madagascar. It was also a pain in the ass to make, needing over 1 million spiders to complete it.

This feat of engineering and fashion is on public display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK. You probably won’t ever be able to get on yourself, but then, I don’t think yellow’s really your color, dude. [ecouterre via Slashdot; Image: Victoria & Albert Museum]”

Ok, so not that fashionable, but you know you want to touch it!

Fashion at the Golden Globes No comments yet

While many people are interested in the results of the Golden Globe Awards, even more fans want to know what their favorite stars and starlets are wearing that night! The Hollywood Gossip put together this great blog, outlining their faves and least faves, and frankly, we couldn’t agree more. What do you think?

“The 2012 Golden Globe Awards have come and gone. Homeland and Modern Family were recognized on the television side of things, The Artist and The Descendants represented in major movie categories and…

… do you really care? Let’s face it: these events are all about the red carpet.

That’s why THG staff members spent the majority of their day posting Fashion Face-Offs, pitting one celebrity against another in a showdown of styles. Based on those matchups, we can use actual poll results to recap the best and worst from the ceremony.”

Fun Flower Earrings No comments yet

I’m seeing flower earrings everywhere, and I love them.  They’re completely adorable, not to mention you can find a pair to wear with almost everything.  Even though flowers are usually associated with spring, some of these earrings are too cute not to wear year round!  Here are a few favorites:

First of all, the colors and sparkles of the BKE Flower Earrings from Buckle are super fun and make them a great accessory for going out, no matter what time of year.

Nordstrom has a huge selection of flower earrings right now, starting with the Juicy Couture Pave Stud Earrings that I think can be worn for pretty much any occasion. They also have the Juicy Couture ‘Flower’ Stud Earrings, which are absolutely gorgeous, and the Betsey Johnson Flower Stud Earrings that I would love to show off with something a little more formal.

Last but not least, Urban Outfitters has the Flower With Rhinestone Post Earrings which are perfect for spring time and sun dresses, but I think I’m going to have to add them to my wish list before then!

Four Accessories that Compliment Red Lipstick No comments yet

If you’re planning on indulging in the red lipstick trend this season, make sure you have some red accents to go with it. Try adding a few accessories to your wish list that can tie your red lips into your outfit. Four red pieces that will compliment your look:

BROCKSY handbag courtesy of Steve Madden

1)    A handbag, like this BROCKSY handbag by Steve Madden for $28. It has a detachable strap so you can carry it as a clutch or wear it over your shoulder, and it works for both daytime and evening attire!

2)    Jewelry, especially rings or bracelets. Be careful with earrings- they’re so close to your face that it will be obvious if your reds aren’t a perfect match.  I love the super cute Two Chain Bangle Bracelet featured at the top for $36 from Fossil.

OUTRRAGE booties courtesy of Steve Madde

3) Pumps or booties. Steve Madden’s suede OUTRRAGE ankle boots on the left are definitely worth the $169.95.  These shoes are a seriously sexy way to complete your outfit, and they’ll make your legs look fabulous!

4)    A fun belt, like the Adjustable Skinny Belt for $26.90 from The Limited, is a great accessory that adds an unexpected splash of red.

Throwing on one or a few of these pieces will look great without overdoing it, even if you skip the lipstick!  Let us know if you have any favorite accessories you love to rock with red lips.

Fedoras and Patricia Hats are a Fun Winter Trend No comments yet

Patricia Hat courtesy of Banana Republic

Hats were big last summer, especially straw fedoras and sun hats. If you enjoyed accessorizing with them last season, don’t worry- the trend is definitely carrying over into winter.

Unfortunately, those straw fedoras and wide, floppy-brimmed sun hats were meant to be worn with tank tops and sandals, so they don’t quite fit in with cold weather attire.

Felt Fedora courtesy of Banana Republic

Banana Republic has some really cute caps that go a little better with your pea coat and boots, not to mention they’ll keep your head warmer!

Trade in the straw for felt with this sharp, 1960’s style fedora, and replace your sun-hat with a gorgeous Patricia Hat like the one featured above. They come in a few different colors that will look great with your heavier winter jackets and spice up any outfit!

Add one to your wish list for a chic, winter-time accessory.

The Perfect Winter Moccasin No comments yet

As you’ve probably noticed, moccasins are totally in right now. I love my mocs, but when winter comes around they can be tough to wear in the rain and snow.

That’s why I was so excited when I went to Macy’s and stumbled across the Minnetonka Tramper Boot.

Minnetonka Tramper Boot

Made from suede and embellished with fringe, they’ve got the look of traditional moccasins, but they’re better suited for winter with their thicker rubber soles and laces that run up the ankle.

Plus, their pile lining is super soft and keeps your toes warm when the temperatures drop!

At $59.99 they’re a fashionable and affordable alternative to traditional winter boots. If you’re into moccasins or just want to switch up your winter look, the Minnetonka Tramper Boot is the perfect addition to your wish list.
