Re-Post: A Life of Style - Haute Bag Lady Bag of the Week No comments yet

Junior Drake
It’s Not The Bag. It’s The Girl.

Two years ago while shopping in Loehmann’s, I spotted a gorgeous brick red leather bag with brass hardware. I picked the bag up to further inspect it and was amazed at how soft the leather felt. The bag was big, looked great on my arm, and had a pretty lining of a black woman fom what looked the the late 1950s or early 196os. I was in handbag love.
Junior Drake? Hmm… I had no recollection of the brand and figured it was a Los Angeles based company. Something about the bag said California to me.
Sadly, I had to leave the bag behind, but as soon as I made it back to work, I visited Junior Drake’s website. From that moment, I was hooked!
Junior Drake bags definitely get you noticed. I get a lot of compliments when I carry either of mine. I love the inspiration for the brand and the modern yet vintage look of each bag.
If you’re not familiar with Junior Drake, please visit their website. I can see this brand becoming a major player among luxury accessories.
My goal is to add a couple more bags to my collection. I’m watching this line very closely and cannot wait to see what’s next.

Tuesday Tip: Wishpot wish list widget!

wishpotWe have a fun new profile feature to tell you about! We have partnered with Wishpot.com - a free social shopping service that makes it easy to save and share interesting things you find in stores and online - to provide an animated, graphical wish list widget for your Swap-bot profile page. The widget is a fun (and totally optional) way to add a little spice to your profile page while letting your partners know a little more about you.

Wishpot is a free website that allows you to easily create wish lists, registries, or collections of cool things you find online. You can learn more about using Wishpothere. Once you have created a Wishpot account, you can add a graphical wish list to your Swap-bot profile page.

To add the Wishpot widget to your profile, click on the “Edit Profile” option either on your profile page or in the drop down under the Profile link at the top of all Swap-bot pages. On the Profile Edit page you will now find a “Add-ons” link. Click there to find the Wishpot widget option. Below is a screen shot of what you will see on the Add-ons screen:

wishpotscreenshot2

You must authorize Swap-bot to access your Wishpot account by logging into Wishpot.com via the ” authorize Swap-bot to add a Wishpot” link. You will then be re-directed back to Swap-bot to select which of your wish lists you would like to share on your Swap-bot profile page. You could share you general wish list just for fun, or you could create a special swap-specific wish list just for use on Swap-bot. Wishpot allows you to create multiple different lists and make them private or public as you choose. However, the list and items you display on Swap-bot must be marked as public in order for your widget to work.

Here is what my Wishpot wish list widget looks like:

View my wish list on Wishpot

Once activated, your Wishpot widget will be automatically placed at the very bottom of the text section of your profile page, just above your ratings. Your widget will update automatically any time you add a new item to your Wishpot list. (Wishpot makes it super-easy to add items to your lists with their browser bar button.) You can remove your widget at any time by going back to the Add-ons page in the Profile Edit screen and clicking on the “Deauthorize Wishpot and remove widget from profile” link. Because this is a brand new feature, there may still be a few kinks to work out. Let me know if you have any trouble or questions. In the future we hope to add more widget options that integrate your favorite online services with your Swap-bot account.

What is Swap-bot?

Do you like sending and receiving snail mail? Do you like writing letters, making crafts, or putting together fun packages? You should try swapping! Swap-bot is a online service that organizes group swaps and a community of creative individuals. Swap-bot takes the hassle out of participating in group swaps by organizing all of the participant information and doing all of the partner assignments. On Swap-bot, you can host swaps, join swaps, and chat with other swappers from all over the world. Give it a try!

Welcome Swap-bot! Now you can share your Swap-bot stuff on Wishpot!

Re-post Mixed Materials Dress Code Formal No comments yet

Mixed Materials

I love this post! Fashion trends are what defines one season from the next and this particular trend is so great for creating a rich style filled with texture!

mixed-materials

Sometimes trends in fashion keep us from being risky, but this time in fashion, designers are using and encouraging the use of varieties of fabrics and weights in one garment. The trend:Mixed Materials.

This Fall, we are going to see at least two, maybe three, different fabrics and weights used in everything from dresses, to shoes, to accessories, to household decorations. The idea is to create a statement by blending and popping different textures. It take a bit more thought, but could be a really fun way to make a look your own and to experiment with mixing and matching accessories, tops and bottoms, and dresses with your existing wardrobe.

Don’t be timid: At these prices, you can feel good about experimenting with style.

Re-Post Shoe Smitten {Go Gladiator} No comments yet

Here’s a new shoe trend that I added to my Wishpot wish list. The Gladiator Sandal

Madeline Anni Gladiator Sandal Review

If you haven’t jumped on the gladiator sandal bandwagon yet, do it this season! Gladiator sandals look adorable with mini dresses, skirts and shorts, and they are comfortable for all-day wear.  The Madeline Anni Shoe ($39.00 at jbandme.com) is an adorable gladiator sandal in pewter. I’ve been wearing them for weekend shopping trips and I also wore them the other night with a flirty little springtime dress.  The adjustable double ankle strap is sexy and adds extra security. True to this season’s trends with its metallic sheen and strappy style, the Anni is perfect for adding a touch of effortless glam to your look.

What do you think of my newest pair of gladiator sandals?

I heart them from the bottom of their gladiator soles!! Thanks Anna.
