Meet the expert: Mackenzie No comments yet

We had a chance to catch up with Mackenzie - one of the wishpot wedding experts - and ask her a few questions.  She is the owner and editor of the wedding blog "Something Old, Something New".

Q. Why do you love helping brides?
A. My blog really helps me stay in touch with the wedding community, brides and professionals alike. My favorite thing is when a bride emails me, asking me where can she find  something unique and special, and I can tell her! Weddings are such special occasions, it gives me a thrill to be part of so many people’s special day.

Q. What’s your unique take?
A. I love finding and posting new things that you might not find in a department store, things that may be too far off the radar or even too new to be featured in a wedding magazine.

Q. A bit about you?
A. I’m a  recently transplanted Brooklynite, living in Providence, Rhode Island with my husband Dell.  My day job as owner of KenzieKate Invitations keeps me very busy!

We definitely love her perspective.  You can check her ideas for registries and ideas for the wedding at her Wishpot profile.

wediquette: the registry 2 comments

It is always interesting ready about registry etiquette.  In our blog we’ll be tracking some of the different perspectices we find.

I was just reading MacKanzie’s blog and she had a great Q&A post about the topic.  Here’s the key takeaway.

"From a technical etiquette perspective, registry information should never be published and should always be spread via word of mouth, the Mother of the Bride being one of the more vocal mouths. If the couple is setting up a wedding website I think you can include some casual information there about how they are saving for a first home."

At Wishpot we wanted to make the "spread the word" as easy as it gets.  It’s very easy for the bride&groom to "share" the list with their close friends (family, bridesmaids or groomsmen) and have them "share" the list as well.  Every recipient in the chain will be able to view the list and purchase the right gifts.
