Ideas for a Blue Wedding from Darci 1 comment

It is nice to know that I am not the only one who loves as in I may have an obsession with the color blue. When I was buying my house I actually insisted on a blue roof.. but that is another story. Our wonderful wedding expert, Darci posted this blue wedding blog and I was instantly drawn to it.

“I think I’ve mentioned it before, but I was this close to having a nautical wedding. My love for green won out, but if I were allowed to plan two weddings the second one would be blue and white. (Fiancé faints as he reads this…I said IF!)
There is no way to say this that doesn’t make me sound like a weirdo, so I’ll just come out with it. This inspiration board was unsolicited. A friend of mine mentioned that one of her friends is planning a wedding on the East Coast and I immediately started rambling about lobsters and sending her links to this wedding. Turns out she wants a blue wedding, so I put together the board above. Notice that I did work in a lobster…I clearly have issues. I don’t know why, but I think any wedding near a lake has to have tons of hydrangeas. I think there should be hydrangeas on absolutely anything that doesn’t move. Or maybe even things that do move. Children and most animals always look better when covered in hydrangeas.

I couldn’t fit it into the board, but I also thought these chip filled cones from Brides were adorable.”

Thanks Darci -all this blue makes me feel anything but. Now if we could combine blue and sparkly.. well then.

Glamorous Ralph Lauren No comments yet

Ok so this week Wishpot is all about Ralph Lauren. And these spectacular shoes are a further example of how Ralph can help enrich your wedding. They are the Adonia Nappa Leather Sandal in a fine suede with a hint of sparkle. And they are available in both this silver mist color and black. They are glamorous. And they explain why Ralph is as loved as he is. Imagine these with a wedding dress. Stunning! And the best part is you could wear then again and again and again.. I’m thinking of what they’d look like with my seven jeans.

:::Planning Tip of the Week:  Aww, Chucks!:::

Yes, of course, still love the Jimmy Choos and Manolo Blahniks. But, right now, it’s all about the Chuck Taylors!

How great is this? Just like choosing bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen tux, actually even, easier… Converse Shoes lets you design your own shoe! Slightly hard to find this feature. (It’s the bottom left corner of the “SHOP” wheel that appears on the right side of your screen, when you first open the link.)

From canvas to leather, lo-top to hi-top, you and your sweetie can totally have matching shoes while your bridal party matches too! Fully customize each pair down to the color of stitch and finish it off with a names or better yet the nicknames you have for each person in your bridal party! Yours and your honeys can say Mr. [last name here] and Mrs. [last name here].

BTW - It takes at least 1 month to receive your order, so plan ahead!

Let me know what kinds of cute styles you’ve come up with!

ENJOY!!

"2008 Spring Summer Trends from mywedding.com No comments yet

Spring-Trends-2008---milton-Gil

**********
Shades of Green
Making their mark in 2007, Green Weddings have lead the way for 2008 trends. The spring and summer seasons are the perfect time to celebrate this top spot trend. An abundance of flowers and fruit fill the markets giving brides the advantage of buying local. Outdoor venues like gardens, meadows, farm lands and lake settings make for a beautiful natural backdrop for Eco-friendly ceremonies. And though donations made in honor of your guests are popular as green wedding favors, eco-friendly favors are also a great alternative, as you’ll read later.

Bloomin’ Blooms
Spring bulbs are planted in the fall, but are the first touches of color in your garden when spring arrives. Tulips, irises, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinths are the most popular springtime blooms. Summer brings in calla lilies, dendrobium orchids, dahlias, daisies and chrysanthemums. By choosing in-season flowers, you’ll be saving money and will find them with ease! Don’t forget to add tall bear grass, grape leaves, or eucalyptus foliage to give your arrangements some texture and fullness.

Freshest of Fruits
Choosing a “fruit” theme is a popular choice for spring and summer weddings this year. Strawberries, blueberries, apricots, pineapples, cherries, nectarines, watermelon, and mangoes are great for color, flavor and inspiration. Create a logo with the fruit which can be used on all of your wedding stationery. Use fruity colors to help you choose bridesmaids’ dresses and groomsmen cummerbunds. Combine fruits of the same color in clear glass bowls or vases for a fresh and easy centerpiece, or place a variety in a basket. Grill fruits with meats or fish and infuse nectars in cocktails to carry the fruit theme throughout your menu.

Bold Hues & Patterns
Bold colors are a big hit this year. Choose fresh, vibrant colors that displays your personality. Incorporate playful patterns like paisley, miniature polka dots, gingham, and of course floral, into a wedding gown sash, groomsmen handkerchiefs, bridesmaids’ dresses, or even the ring bearer pillow.

What to Wear
Though traditional fabrics are acceptable for any season, fabrics like Italian cotton, silk tricotine, silk chiffon, and linens are perfect for spring and summer. Simple eyelet patterns, flowing long length skirts and a fitted bodice are this year’s style compared to conventional heavier structured gowns. Grooms can spring into the season with a 2 or 3 button blazer suit, soft cotton twill seersuckers, or a classic-style suit in linen.

Sparkle Sparkle
Jewelry trends this year are all about double duty pieces. Take a tiara and turn it into a necklace or take a hair accent piece and convert it to a broach. Lightweight, viney, filigree pieces are very popular this season as well. Whether they are silver or gold, add a splash of color to give it some flair. Vintage pieces are popular all year round. Think creatively to add heirloom pieces to your wedding day sparkle!

Favorable Favors
Seed packets are a popular choice this year—especially for outdoor weddings. For fruit themed weddings, send guests home with mini jars of preserves or a fruit flavor tea bag. Natural in color and material, bamboo fans are a nice spring wedding give away too. Include them in your wedding by having the bridesmaids hold these as a part of their bouquet. Miniature ones can be used for the groomsmen boutonnières as well.

GroomGroove’s hottest brides No comments yet

Ok here is a little something fun…..mostly for the boys but I found it highly entertaining. Our Fab groom expert groomgroove posted this and I am re-posting because of their NUMBER ONE hot hot bride!

Smart boys. A great list. I guess Jennifer Aniston didn’t make the cut. I bet she is number 11.  Then again I’m no expert ;)

gift girl

“GroomGroove.com presents its picks for the hottest brides and wives of recent memory - so you’ve heard of and some you need to know. Enjoy - but never make the mistake of forgetting Number 1 on this list!

1 -  Your fiancée

Obligatory. But true. And don’t forget it. Lust away, but live for the beautiful woman you are about to marry.

2 - Elin Nordegren (to Tiger Woods, 2004-present)

From the home of Ikea, Swedish meatballs and Volvo comes model, Elin Nordegren. Attaboy, Tiger. GroomGroove.com suggests Tiger put away the clubs and put his passion into making babies. As in 24/7.

3 - Aishwarya Rai (to Abhishek Bachchan, 2007-present)

Who? Oh yeah - her. The hottest thing to come out of India since Beef Vindaloo. Engaged in January 2007 and married in April 2007. You will be seeing more of this Indian vixen in the future. You and your fiancée should rent Bride and Prejudice. You can watch it with your fiancée and it stars Aishwarya Rai. Perfect.

4 - Jennifer Lopez (to Marc Anthony, 2004-present)

No offence to Marc Anthony - but brother you are punching way above your weight. Congrats. It’s J-Lo’s third marriage.

5 -  Thandie Newton (to Ol Parker, 1998-present)

A fantastic actor, she’s an exotic British-Zimbabwean mix. With her stellar performance in Oscar-winner Crash, you’ll be hearing more from Thandie Newton in the future. Mr. Parker, her husband, is fortunate to have such a talented and pretty wife.

6 - Jordana Brewster (to producer Andrew Form, 2007-present)

Jordana and producer-husband Andrew Form were married in May 2007 in a destination wedding in the Bahamas. Thinking outside the box, which GroomGroove.com likes. Andrew made a good choice in picking this star of The Fast and the Furious.

7 - Uma Thurman

Ok, so she’s no longer married. But she was one hell of a bride in Kill Bill. GroomGroove.com cannot understand what Ethan Hawke was thinking. She’s back on the market, so…uhh…thanks Ethan!

8 - Heidi Klum (to Seal, 2005-present)

Heidi, dub ist ein hottie. Former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Heidi Klum hails from Germany. We can understand why Seal couldn’t resist his own little piece of German engineering.

9 -   Monica Bellucci (to Vincent Cassel, 1999-present)

This Italian supermodel is a sex symbol. You can appreciate why. Italy was abuzz when she married in 1999 to Vincent Cassel. Monica gave up her legal studies to pursue a career in modeling, and the world is much, much better for it.

10 - Paz Vega (to Orson Salazar, 2002-present)

Muy caliente. While Paz Vega may not yet be a household name in North America, she made a name for herself in Almodovar’s Habla con Ella and starred opposite Adam Sandler in Spanglish. Happily married to Orson Salazar, they welcomed Orson junior into the world in May 2007.”

Wedding Dress Bliss 3 comments

I -much like most girls love weddings and better than weddings are wedding dresses! So i had to repost this. Our lovely Junebug wedding expert blogs about these Spring 09 wedding dresses,

This weekend I attended the wedding of my dear friends Michelle and Chip, and couldn’t stop oohing and ahhing over Michelle’s beautiful dress. It had fitted bodice with a simple halter neck and drop waist, but the skirt was what stole the show! It was delicately embroidered with a white on white floral, leaf and vine pattern that perfectly personified the sweetness of spring. She looked fresh and glowing and absolutely gorgeous, and reminded me of how much I love the wonderful detailing on wedding gowns!

In honor of springtime brides everywhere, here are some of the fantastically detailed wedding dresses from the recent Spring 09 bridal runways that will make you fall in love with the season.”
