It’s a Jaime Friday! Wedding Night Romance

Wedding Night Romance Recipe…It’s Girl Talk Time…

…Ingredients That Will Ensure Your Wedding Night Doesn’t End After The Reception!

Sometimes, throughout the process that leads up to that very special day, there can be an element that ends up distorted and out of focus….romance.  Romance is a concept that can easily be obscured when we are running around planning out details, checking on vendors, making seating charts and worrying about how we’ll fit into that dress we’ve dreamt of since we were little.  I’m sure you know how crazy it can get!

The irony of this is rich, considering it is the romance in our relationships that has led up to and been a vital part of the relationship.  It’s the romance of our first kiss, the night you’ll never forget, in fact all the firsts that have let you know that this is your one and only…”until death do us part”.

Living in a society that prizes practicality, we have let that infringe on our courtship and romance.  These days, it’s not unusual for couples to be intimate, move in or often times have children prior to their marriage.  This, however, should not mean that we have to bleed the love and romance out of a night that is supposed to be defined by it.

Your wedding night should continue in that romantic pattern that has lead up to this point…it should be just one more first in a series of many in a long and happy life together.  That being said, let’s revisit the idea of the wedding night.  I’m not talking about the reception…I’m talking about afterward.

Here are a few ideas to help make your wedding “night” one to remember, rather than one you laugh about because you drank so much from being so stressed that you passed out in each others’ arms the minute you opened the door.

First things first ladies, it’s time to feel sexy!  Here are a few of my favorite lingerie picks, but choose what makes you feel comfortable.  Because if you’re not comfortable, you’re not going to feel sexy, and if you’re not feeling sexy, you might not feel like getting romantic.  So comfortable is key!

Other advice - if you’re “something new” is something you’re not used to wearing, practice putting it on before the big night!  I’ll never forget the night of my wedding, I spent about an hour in the bathroom just trying to figure out how to put the darn things on.  I’m lucky I didn’t end up wrapping the garter belt around my head - and very lucky I didn’t snag those “oh-so-sexy” thigh-highs (which, by the way, are not easy to attach) with my new full set of nails.  In the end, my very loving and super sweet husband was able to help me “get into something more comfortable”, as my patience was disappearing quickly.

We laugh about it now, but at the time all I wanted to do was get all pretty for him….and I was feeling a tad discouraged.  So practice, practice, practice!  I suggest practicing putting on that new lingerie in private, that way your soon-to-be hubby can have a nice, unexpected surprise waiting for him come your wedding night.

Next stop is the beauty shop!  Here are a few of my favorite items to help you freshen up and get all soft and sexy for that memorable night.

1.  Amazing Grace Foot Cream by Philosophy, 2.  Color Fever Gloss Roses by Lancome, 3.  Fresh Bloom Allover Colour by Clinique

After all that dancing, you’ll probably want to spritz on some sexy perfume.  Tickle his “scent”ses with a few of my favorite picks!

1.  Be Delicious Parfum Rollerball by DKNY, 2.  Unforgivable by Sean John, 3.  Rock ‘n Rose by Valentino

Now it’s time to tune into the romance, by turning up the music!  Check out my two personal favorite CD’s, along with a fun way to play them no matter where you spend your wedding night!

1.  Norah Jones, 2.  Vestax Handy Trax Portable Turntable from Audio Depot, 3.  Sarah McLachlan

Chances are, that during your wedding reception, you won’t have much time to drink as you’ll be so busy dancing, talking to friends and family and being pulled away for pictures.  This isn’t a bad thing - as you don’t want to get wasted at your reception, because then your night will really be over with!  So save the cocktails for later, and enjoy them with your honey!

Now that the romantic music is playing and you’re all dolled up, light a few candles if you have them handy (travel candles are great for this), and pour each other some chocolate martinis!  They say chocolate is an aphrodisiac, afterall.  So let a little Norah Jones, candlelight and yummy cocktails get you in the mood for romance, darlings!  Here’s our favorite way to make those fabulous chocolate martinis really yummy:

2 parts Dark Chocolate Godiva Liqueur, 1 part White Chocolate Godiva Liqueur and 1 part Belvedere Vodka.  Modify to taste.  Chill and shake vigorously, then pour into chilled chocolate drizzed martini glasses.

Toast to a long, happy and healthy life together!  Reflect on your wedding day, talk about it, dream about your future together…sooner than later those chocolate martinis will have the two of you in an exciting conversation, flirting with each other like when you first met!

If you’re both still wired from your wedding day, why not take a bath together to relax before you hit the pillows?  Here’s an idea you can try, which I found after reading an article from Lovingyou.com:

In search for some really great bubbles?  Try these for some fun!

Whether you follow one idea from this post or all of them, I hope you experience a wonderful wedding night.  If by chance you’re just simply exhausted, well, it’s ok…there is always the honeymoon and hopefully a lifetime of romantic nights to plan!
