Wedding Reception Music Tip
Many celebrities hire fantastic bands and orchestras for their elaborate wedding receptions. If you are Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky, you turn it up 100 notches and have Billy Joel serenade you.
But what if you aren’t a celebrity and you still want the original artist? What should you know about hiring a DJ? Well, here is a tip I learned the hard way at a wedding I attended recently.
Always, always, always give your DJ a list of songs he or she must have. Some people may say this is taking things to a bridezilla level, I call it "getting what you expect on your wedding day." (I mean, what DJ doesn’t have Low by Flo Rida???)
These days, most DJs have everything set up on their computer, so it is very easy for your DJ to simply download the songs you request prior to your wedding. And if you are not sure what songs the DJ should have available, ask friends what songs they think will be a big hit at the wedding. Group think can definitely help in this kind of situation.

I agree! I also suggest going to see them in person before you hire them. I went to a wedding once and the DJ had these two female dancers with him and throughout the whole night they danced on speakers. I don’t need to tell you what they were wearing. I’ve never felt so bad for a bride. In retrospect it was pretty funny but at the moment not so much. For more celebrity fun check out Celebrity Weddings 411

I believe music is an essential part of a wedding reception since it sets the mood for the whole celebration. It’s but natural that the bride- and groom-to-be have their say on what will be the soundtrack of their special day.
