Guest Blog Post from Heather We Met In a Bar

Hello! My name is Heather and I have a little blog called We Met in A Bar. (Yes, my fiancé and I did meet in a bar, but it was through a mutual friend I am so excited to be guest blogging here on Wishpot! I love this site for making it so much easier to bookmark and share the things I love!

When I was asked to do a guest holiday post I was so excited, but wasn’t sure what to write about… something holiday related? But I am a wedding expert (!) so something wedding and holiday related? A holiday wedding? Which, by the way, would have to be all white.

You can see my issue. Plus, I am in no way a writer. My grammar is terrible and I tend to change subjects a lot. (Are you still reading this? You are so kind So I decided to write about the single largest thing that both the holidays and weddings have in common. Love.

You can’t have a wedding without love. Love for your fiancé, love for your family and friends who you invited to be a part of the day, and, depending on who you are, love for your God. The same things go for the holidays. We all know how Christmas came about, and there is nothing better than spending the holiday season with your family and friends.

I encourage everyone to remember that the holidays, weddings, shoot, everyday, is all about love. Take a minute to give some love to a stranger this holiday season, whether it be by volunteering your time, your talents or your treasures, or just by smiling to the woman who just grabbed the last cashmere scarf at Nordstrom’s. And when wedding planning gets crazy and you find yourself fighting about napkin colors, remember why you are getting married. Love. Everything else is just extra.
