Win a Serenade for Valentine’s Day! 51 comments

Valentine’s Day is almost here, have you decided what you’re going to get your Valentine this year? Even if you’ve already gotten their gift- forget it, because we’ve found something even better.

GigMasters is hosting a contest where you can win a free serenade for your Valentine! You could have a violinist play at dinner, a comedian show up at their office, or something else that fits their personality a little better.

All you have to do is enter the contest for a chance to receive $200 towards entertainment (also known as the serenade) from GigMasters as well as two EarthLust Water Bottles. Here are four different ways you can enter:

1) Visit the GigMasters’ Life of the Party Blog and leave a comment that describes the serenade you’re planning. Talk about your valentine and explain why it’s such a great plan for him or her.

2) Do the same thing on the GigMasters’ Wedding Blog

3) Go to the GigMasters Facebook Page and post your serenade plan

4) Tweet “Hey @gigmasters help me #serenademyvalentine” with this link http://bit.ly/A90ISH

The contest runs from now through February 6th at 5 p.m., and each person can enter up to four times. The winner is chosen at random and will be announced on GigMasters’ Twitter, Facebook, and blogs at noon on February 7th. If you need a fun, unique way to surprise your Valentine, this will definitely do it.

5 Easy Steps to Making Siri Your New Santa 41 comments

Photobucket

We’ve all seen how Siri assists with text messages, e-mails, weather, and schedule reminders, but Wishpot is adding a new identity to Apple’s new voice assistant. Wishpot.com has essentially made Siri your new Santa Claus by connecting your iPhone 4S with your wish lists. Enabling this connection is simple and fast with the following 5 steps.

1) Connect Wishpot with your iPhone 4S: Go to your Account Settings, followed by your Mobile Settings on Wishpot.com. You will then create a private e-mail address for Siri to connect with.

2) Connect your iPhone 4S with your Wishpot Account: You will then add this private e-mail address to your iPhone 4S contact list and give it a name. For example, Santa or Wishlist.

3) Tell Siri What you Want: Now that your mobile device is connected with your wish list you are able to tell Siri (or Santa) what you want. To do this, you will first say “message”, followed the name you chose for your contact, and finally the thing you want. For example a book or apparel. (To make the search even more specific, shoppers are also able to read aloud UPC or ISBN numbers).

4) Receive an iMessage Reply: Once you have told Siri what you want, Wishpot will search for the best match and lowest price. After finding the best result, you will receive an iMessage with the price and description of the product.

5) The Item is Added to your Wishpot Wish List: Finally, the item you “wanted” will be added to your wish list at Wishpot.com.

While Wishpot.com makes creating lists for Santa as easy as telling Siri what you’re wishing for, this new tool makes shopping simple year round. As simple as it is, why not go to http://www.wishpot.com/siri to add wish list capability to your iPhone?

She loves you, and she’d love an iPad. And a purse. 34 comments

Ladies, give us a moment alone with the gentlemen, please. This will only take a moment. Trust us — we have your best interests at heart.

So, guys. We’re here to help. You know how you’ve been thinking it’s hard to shop for your lovely bride? You love her. You adore her. You want to spend eternity with her. Now, what do you get her for a wedding gift, her birthday or the holidays?

This is not a hard question. She wants the same thing you want: an iPad. Buy her one.

And once you do, buy her a glorious bag to take it with her everywhere. (Which you totally want her to do. She’ll whip it out with a big grin and show it off: “Look what my fiancé bought me!”) Don’t make her lug it along in a briefcase or a tote bag. Pick a bag she’ll be happy to show off. She’s the love of your life. She deserves gorgeous accessories.

Just be sure to pick a bag in iPad fits into. It won’t be that hard. They’re slim little things — not even an inch thick, just shy of 10 inches tall and 7 ½ inches wide. Leave a little breathing room for any protective case or cover.

Whether her taste runs to classic, luxurious or fun, there are delightful bags out there in the world just waiting for you to bring them home to your lovely bride. All they want — just like the rest of us — is an iPad.

How to Throw a Girls Weekend for the Laid back Bachelorette 46 comments

How to throw a girls weekend for the laid back bachelorette.

One of the biggest obstacles on the daunting list of maid of honor duties when brainstorming ideas for the bachelorette party is making sure the tone of the party matches the personality of the bride-to-be.

Sure, it’s easy to throw a wild bachelorette party fully loaded with booze, boys and debauchery–but what do you do when your bride-to-be wants a fun, yet relaxing girls weekend?

Plan a Spa Getaway: Bottom line is all women like to be pampered and your bride-to-be could use the relaxation before the big day. Plan the perfect location, with an atmosphere that fits the personality of your bride-to-be. Plan treatments and amenities that lie within your party budget. For an extra touch provide guests with spa package bridesmaids gifts equipped with lotion, candles and other girly stuff.

Escape to wine country: For the bride-to-be that doesn’t want to escape to Las Vegas but still wants to drink: head to your closest wine country for a weekend of good wine, food and girl talk. Wine is produced in all 50 mainland states so there are options for all bridal parties without having to take a flight!

Throw a fondue party: What woman doesn’t like meat, cheese, fruit and chocolate? This is a great option for the bridal party on budget that also leaves guests feeling like they did something fun, unusual and not cheap. Provide your guests with classy bridal gifts that give that little extra touch and have cocktails and bridal games that help lighten up the mood.

Bridesmaid Gifts Groomsmen Gifts - Think Leather! 29 comments

The following post is from @gift_girl’s blog, Girly Wedding.

Bridesmaid Gifts Groomsmen Gifts- Think Leather. Looking for a gift for your bridesmaid and groomsmen? Consider the gift of leather. Leather gifts withstand the test of time and they have a distinguished quality about them. Let your special people know how much they really mean to you. Below I’ve selected a couple of my faves.

I absolutely love it when you tie in wedding colors through out all aspects of your wedding, including the wedding party gifts. And if you can’t tie them into the gifts themselves think about including your wedding colors in the wrapping. How cute would these leather heart gifts be for someone having a pink wedding or a red wedding. I especially love the idea of giving the bridesmaid jewelry wrapped in a reusable leather jewelry case.

And if the wedding is a destination one I can’t think of anything more adorable that the heart luggage tags. That you can give to your bridesmaids before they leave for your destination wedding.

And lets not forget the boys! Leather makes unique groomsmen gifts too.  A popular groomsmen gift is the money clip, which looks much more distinguished in the leather version. The same goes for the groomsmen flask. The flask is elevated to another level with the sophisticated leather casing. And this particular one is one you can personalize if you are looking for an extra special touch.

All of these bridal party gifts are from Royce Leather and surprisingly affordable.  They were nice enough to send me a few of their leather goods to review. Including a great zip wallet that my brother is getting for Christmas. But shhh don’t tell him. Luckily he doesn’t frequent wedding blogs so I think I’m safe. And yes I am one of those people who starts holiday shopping in June.

Thank you to Royce Leather. If you are looking for quality wedding party gifts consider the gift of leather.

In The New Years Pledge to Do Good With Style… 39 comments

Our good friend Anti-Bride brought this to our attention; ‘no compromise’ on fierce fashion.  Sea Shepherd.org has assembled some of the lastest chic savvy crew member attire.  Style options that won’t compromise your fashion sense, and would make an excellent selection for your wish list.

Snowbirds: you don’t have to compromise on style, as a matter of fact, there should be No Compromise on style ever! If you are so inclined to look as divine as Ms. Michelle Rodriguez, latest Sea Shepherd crew member, look no further than Sea Shepherd.org. For gift giving, or best vaca-fashion ever, rock your inner activist with these cherry picks. Fight illegal whaling and get your pirate look on (while standing ever so slightly apart from the cult of Tory Burch at the tiki lounge). It’s great ‘looking good-doing good’ gear, and every time we rock ours, people think we work for Captain Paul Watson or Captain Swift. We are deeply honored (but always fess up). Get the look here: www.seashepherd.org.

The Lasting Gift of Art 18 comments

All of our Wishpot brides out there have to agree that throwing a wedding takes a village. What that also means is that you want to show your gratitude for all the help your friends and family have given by saying thank you. If you want the sentiment to be heartfelt then the best way to do so is with a beautiful gift, and what better than a piece of art. It’s the proverbial gift that keeps on giving; after the moment has passed, artwork is there to remind you of the happy memories and special people whose day they were a part of. So whether you’re just looking for a lovely Christmas gift or a meaningful present for your friends, family or spouse, let us suggest some beautiful art pieces for your wish list.

Looking for a gift for her? Choose one of these feminine prints. Every girl would be happy to have something like this hanging on her wall.

But what about the men? We suggest sticking with more classic prints like these. Bold photographs make a statement that feels very masculine.
