Available in a variety of values, the American Express gift card is a convenient way to show you care without having to include the receipt in your gift box. After all, what’s worse than getting home from the honeymoon and realizing you have 3 teapots, 2 toasters, and an endless amount of china? Give the gift of not feeling broke after the most expensive day of their lives.

Also great for saving room in your suitcase for destination weddings!

Thinking of selling your dress? We’re giving away a wedding dress listing 53 comments

Remember how great you felt when you found the perfect dress? It was beautiful, you looked beautiful in it, you loved it, and you felt such relief that the search was over. Why not pay that feeling forward? Share that happy feeling with another bride. Sell your wedding dress. She’s been scouring the internet for that designer and that size, and look! It’s right there in your closet! Sell it to her.

That’s reason number one to list your dress on www.preownedweddingdresses.com – the spirit of sisterhood.

Here are 5 more:

  • It’s green! Not your dress, silly. What we mean is, if your dress is worn a second time, then that’s that much more resources saved. Besides the material it takes to make the dress, consider how far the dress traveled to get to you. Your gown may just have a wee bit of a carbon footprint. Save the planet! Sell your dress.
  • Frugality is trendy. You can help another bride look good by saving a bundle. And you can make some of your own money back. You’re done with the dress, but you’re going to have that man forever. Use the cash to do something romantic with him.
  • It won’t be stylish forever. You’re certainly never going to wear it again. Are you saving it for a daughter? There’s no guarantee she’ll want it, either. Maybe your mother’s wedding dress was adorable, but completely the wrong size or shape for you, or just not your taste. And maybe it wound up in the Big Thrift Store in the Sky. Let your dress have another day in the sun. Sell it to another deserving bride, and sell it now while you can get the most cash.
  • Your dress has never been worn. Perhaps you thought you found The Dress – and then another one that really made your heart sing came along. Or maybe you found The Dress – and then decided to run away to Vegas or get married on the beach. Why not get your money back?
  • Make room for baby! You’ve got a big box of dress and an adorable, quaint little house with no closet space, and a bundle of joy on the way. It’s a no-brainer. Sell the dress and use the money to buy a crib!

Now that you’ve decided to sell your wedding dress online, try to sell it for free! Comment on this post. Tell us about how wonderful your dress is and why it deserves a second chance. If we love your comment, www.preownedweddingdresses.com will let you list your dress with them for free until it sells! That saves you $25. All you have to do if you win is promise to get that listing up on www.preownedweddingdresses.com within six months.

So let us have it! Brag a little about your gorgeous dress, your dreamy wedding and your exquisite taste. We can’t wait!

Wedding Address Labels: Do or Don’t? 68 comments

Ask any former bride — invitations are one of the most important parts of the big day. Not only do they inform guests when and where the wedding will take place, but wedding invitations make the first impression on your guests and set the tone for your nuptials. Selecting the invitation design and perfecting the many details requires a lot of thought, not to mention the time spent hand-addressing each envelope.

Photobucket

You can have a traditional wedding and still save a little time.

Traditionally, wedding invitations are hand addressed because handwriting makes the invitation more personal. By taking the time to write out guests’ names and addresses, you are demonstrating to your guests that you really want them to be at your celebration. If you don’t want to write them out yourself, you can hire a calligrapher to hand-address the envelopes.

Yet, spending money on calligraphy, which can cost $2 to $5 per invitation, isn’t financially feasible for many brides-to-be. Furthermore, many women are finding they don’t have time to hand-address hundreds of envelopes between other wedding preparations and working a full-time job. As a result, many are deciding to print mailing labels for their wedding invitations to save time and money.

Address labels are not for every wedding. You have to first determine if address labels are appropriate for your invitations. Black tie affair? Probably not. Casual beach wedding? Sure! Just keep in mind that the invitation should correlate with the formality of the event. Here are some etiquette and design suggestions for printing wedding invitation mailing labels:

  • Choose a subtle or neutral stock. Sheer or matte materials are most versatile and will complement the envelope; stay away from glossy labels which can be hard to print on. Try to match the paper to an element of the invitation.
  • Break from traditional labels. If you’re going to use mailing labels, you may as well dress them up! Consider a using a custom die-cut shape associated with your wedding, such as a sun for a beach wedding or a flower for a garden wedding. Another idea is using wraparound address labels which take care of both the address and the return address labels. These are great for envelopes that open on the side.
  • Your font should match your invitation. Script font is popular for mailing labels because it mimics handwriting. Or, you can try out a service that converts your handwriting into your own font, like YourFonts.com. If you do use a script-like font, be sure to use a larger point size to make the information clear. You can also enlarge the first letter of each line of text on the address for extra elegance.
  • Never separate a man’s first name from his last. Contrary to what you may think, etiquette dictates that when addressing to a couple, you should always keep the man’s first and last name together. For example, Adrienne and George Damascus. Many make the mistake of starting with the man’s name.
  • Gifts are often sent to the return address on the outside envelope. If the bride and groom live in New York, but are getting married in California, it is much easier for the couple to have gifts sent to New York.
  • What names should go on the return address label? This is a question many brides-to-be ask because some feel it would be premature or taboo to use their married name. Most often return address labels use [First Name & First Name] or [First Name Last Name & First Name Last Name]. Either is appropriate.

Ultimately, invitations are only a small part of the huge, stressful project of planning a wedding. The above ideas are just suggestions to guide you. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter if you handwrite or print mailing labels for your invitations. The only thing that matters is that your wedding invitations reflect the most important part of the wedding: you.

How to Throw a Girls Weekend for the Laid back Bachelorette 46 comments

How to throw a girls weekend for the laid back bachelorette.

One of the biggest obstacles on the daunting list of maid of honor duties when brainstorming ideas for the bachelorette party is making sure the tone of the party matches the personality of the bride-to-be.

Sure, it’s easy to throw a wild bachelorette party fully loaded with booze, boys and debauchery–but what do you do when your bride-to-be wants a fun, yet relaxing girls weekend?

Plan a Spa Getaway: Bottom line is all women like to be pampered and your bride-to-be could use the relaxation before the big day. Plan the perfect location, with an atmosphere that fits the personality of your bride-to-be. Plan treatments and amenities that lie within your party budget. For an extra touch provide guests with spa package bridesmaids gifts equipped with lotion, candles and other girly stuff.

Escape to wine country: For the bride-to-be that doesn’t want to escape to Las Vegas but still wants to drink: head to your closest wine country for a weekend of good wine, food and girl talk. Wine is produced in all 50 mainland states so there are options for all bridal parties without having to take a flight!

Throw a fondue party: What woman doesn’t like meat, cheese, fruit and chocolate? This is a great option for the bridal party on budget that also leaves guests feeling like they did something fun, unusual and not cheap. Provide your guests with classy bridal gifts that give that little extra touch and have cocktails and bridal games that help lighten up the mood.
