Wishpot Tips for Purple Weddings! 8 comments

From the recent Golden Globes to famous celebrity weddings, purple is the new and trendy color for gowns and weddings! This month Wishpot gives you tips and ideas for your gorgeous purple wedding.

clip_image002

When it comes to a purple wedding, the bride can add a few little things to her white dress that will add some spice to it. Wearing purple pumps like these BCBGeneration Dante Pumps will make a statement while you walk down the aisle! You can also take tips from celebrity weddings like Khloe Kardashian. She had a gorgeous purple/lavender wedding which can serve for a great place for inspiration. Khloe sported one of our favorite new wedding trends today…the SASH! Putting a sash around your wedding dress is a great way to make any traditional white dress look more elegant and unique.

What about decorations and favors? One of our favorite wedding favors are these awesome personalized travel candle tins which are a fun personal way to say thank you to your guests. And for decorations, save money on these beautiful purple and lavender silk rose petals. Putting them in the middle of all your guests tables will add more sophistication and serenity to your wedding.

When it comes to the wedding party, the bridesmaid dresses should be flattering on all shapes and sizes. This is why this short dark purple bridesmaid dress from Nordstrom is a perfect match for your wedding! And last but definitely not least…for the groom, add the perfect touch to his tux with a purple tie!

Every bride needs a little purple in her life. For more ideas on wedding dresses, décor, and more visit www.wishpot.com/weddings!

Guest Blog Post: WeddingCollectibles – A Time To Say Thanks! No comments yet

2009’s Holiday season has officially begun with Thanksgiving just around the corner!! Christmas trees and other festive decorations are all up in stores already, and as usual, Thanksgiving has not even passed yet! Often times Thanksgiving does not receive enough attention as it rightly should. Thanksgiving is a time of thanks, family, and food! Just like too many times in life we forget to give thanks for the many blessings we have, we overlook the Thanksgiving Holiday.

clip_image002

Celebrating your wedding near the Thanksgiving holiday is a wonderful idea. It actually use to be quite popular for weddings to take place just before or a little after Thanksgiving. Since Thanksgiving is a holiday where family all comes together in celebration, it is a great opportunity to plan your wedding while all your family is already all together.

clip_image004Even if you are not planning a Thanksgiving wedding, like I said earlier, Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks. Of course, your wedding would not have been possible without the help and support of soo many family and friends and it is important to remember thank each and every one of them.

First off, your bridesmaids! Usually your bestest friends, these girls have supported through all of the wedding madness, and usually have stood by your side during the high school and college years. Make sure your gift to them is something special. Maybe treat them to a fun spa day or you can put together a cute gift basket filled with all kinds of girly items such as chocolate, gift cards, and candles. You can buy each of them the matching jewelry that you would like them to wear on the big day and maybe have cute tote bags created so that the girls will have something convenient to carry all of their belongings from place to place on your wedding.

Now for the boys. Cuff links, beer mugs, or any kind of golf accessories all make for perfect gifts for your favorite boys. Next, you have your flower girl and ring bearer. For the flower girl, a small tote bag that is customized for her to use on your wedding will make her feel soo important and she will love it. For the ring bearer, you can get ideas of fun toys, he will like from his parents.

So this Thanksgiving, if you’re celebrating your wedding or not, remember to give a big thank you to everything and everyone in your life!

Tying the knot during the holiday season can be extraordinary. The time is to be spent with family and a wedding can provide the perfect atmosphere for catching up with loved ones. Incorporating the holidays can even be started before the actual wedding. How adorable are these holiday invites?

So don’t think you need to have Santa and Elves all over your wedding to make your guests feel the holiday warmth. Those ideas can be great, but think deep red berries and pretty ornaments for your table displays. White Christmas lights and luminaries can make the night feel magical while pops of green or silver are sure to impress your guests.

If you are planning a wedding during the holiday season, don’t be afraid to incorporate some beautiful holiday details! When done right, it’s simply beautiful.

Stick It To Them

Now for a wacky idea that is really functional.

 clip_image002

The Duct Tape Wedding favor, this is something your guest can actually use, there are tons of websites including, The Duct Tape Guys that have ideas for Duct tape use. Well I thought of one more. A wedding favor, it’s cheap and useful. If you go to the right Dollar Store you can pick up most rolls for at least, hmmm…. $1.00! Or you could order it from Jam Paper. Have personalized sticker made that says "We’re Stuck On Each Other" (oh, come on that works) be sure it includes your wedding date. Let me know what you think, better yet tell me your creative, unusual, kooky, out of the box, ideas for a wedding favor.

I don’t even know why I love this idea. But I do. Maybe it is because i know that duct tape is man’s best friend? Ask any guy if it is broke you can fix it with duct tape.

Gift Ideas For The Bridal Party! 2 comments

With all of the hustle and bustle of planning a wedding, a bride hardly has time to get creative with the gifts for her bridal party, so we turned to our resident Wishpot wedding experts for a little inspiration.

The first item is a handmade necklace from the wish list of wedding expert, Sweet T, author of Cats, Cheese, and a Wedding, Please; The scarlet and black necklace, beautifully named La Romantique Jardin, can be found on the etsy shop of artist RachelleD and is the necklace Sweet T gave to her maid of honor. According to the Wishpot Wedding Expert, RachelleD’s designs “…make beautiful bridesmaids gifts”.

The next item is Demeter cologne spray in pink lemonade, recommended by Globetrotting Bride. Known for their distinct, fresh, and affordable scents, these fragrances are the perfect spring/summer wedding freshen up for every girl in your bridal party.

The third recommendation comes from Wishpot expert Heather from the bar, and offers versatile femininity as a coin purse or jewelry case. The adorable small frame pouch can be found at Oktak Etsy shop and can be gifted individually or as the “gift bag” to a smaller present.

Our next recommendation is a pair of peacock style Havianas and also inspired by the wish list of Sweet T, who insists that bridesmaids’ feet need a little rest. Sweet T loves Havianas for their wide selection of designs and colors- perfect for any wedding color scheme and style!

For the bride looking for a more common bridal party gift, Jaime from Its a Jaime Thing recommends this ribboned flask from Classy Bride, complete with crystal top.

The last item also comes from Heather from the bar and is an etsy designed full pleated clutch/wristlet, simple yet fashionable, perfect for every style!

Thanks to our wedding experts for the inspiration and great gift ideas! For more tips, ideas, or inspiration, check out the Wishpot Wedding Blog or follow us on Twitter: @wishpot, @gift_girl

Say What!

clip_image001

Picture from One French Women’s Opinion

Quite a number of summers ago, I was addicted to the Dove ice cream bar. They were fat, covered in Dark Chocolate, and the vanilla ice cream was so delicious. I am not a real big sweet eater and this cool confection had the just the right flavoring. Summer was perfect with a Dove Bar in hand.
So I am not surprised that Dove has come up with the Wedding favor. My Dove Chocolate, is a great way to treat your guest sweet and say something even sweeter. You can write up to 51 characters with messages like:

I love you (duh that’s why we had the big party!)
Mr. and Mrs Smith
Thank you for sharing our sweeeeeeet day
Chock Full Of Love
Love That Chocolate Man/Woman

I love this idea! Of course I love chocolate. This would make a great sweet table addition or wedding favor! Be sure to check out our expert www.cassandrabromfield.com for more great stuff!
