When you think of the circus, I’m sure theatrical clowns, acrobats, and performing elements come to mind. You might also think of bright colors, energy, and an imaginative atmosphere. Is this the same atmosphere you want to create for your wedding? Perhaps! Which is why, if you are looking for a creative wedding theme, you should consider a fun vintage circus wedding! (I know this sounds silly, but stick with me).

I love the wedding-color themed candy bar used here. Jelly beans, lollipops, and other sugary treats like a cotton candy station will delight your guests. The carnival feel is completed with all your favorite activities, like a photo booth.

These hold-up mustaches are hot right now and are very easy and cheap to make yourself! A great way to playfully entertain guests, not to mention the pictures will last a lifetime. Host your festive wedding in a tent or old fashioned barn, and brighten it up with loads of lights and fun color. This may sound like a 5-year-old’s birthday party, but you can pull off a classy look with the right décor.

Playful, colorful, charming. Make your wedding stand out and the memories will last forever!

There are times in a soon-to-be-bride’s life when quirkier wedding invitations are desired. By quirkier, we mean less conventional than the paper invitations that are sent out by the millions every year by couples across the country. Sure, they look very attractive but very common, too. So, to make your wedding interesting from the onset, why not opt for…
Message in a Bottle
If you have ever picked up a bottle on the beach with a message written on a piece of paper, you may have appreciated the romantic idea. Well, now, you can recreate the magic you felt by sending out message in a bottle wedding invitations! You can either have a wedding store make these bottled invitations for you to save time or you can make these fun invitations yourself to save money. Whatever your choice, keep to the theme of a beach wedding by injecting touches of the sun, sand and sea.
Think of placing colored sand to match your color motif, little seashells to match those in your cake, starfishes to reflect your starry-eyed state of happiness and even small water balls to represent the sea. This way, you can evoke the beach-y mood to your wedding guests through these unique wedding invites. If you decide to make them on your own, remember a few things. First, make sure that you have a pull mechanism to allow the paper to come out of the bottle easily. You don’t want your wedding invitation recipients to go fishing on dry land or hammering on glass to get to the paper. Even a simple strip of ribbon attached to the paper will do the trick.
Second, think of shipping costs. Try to keep the weight to a minimum, say, by placing just a half-inch of sand so as to save on costs. Besides, you want your wedding invitations to be evocative of the beach, not mess up your guests’ tables with sand!

I’ve never met a person who doesn’t like spa. Maybe that’s because once you have a great spa experience, you want to go back again and again. And it’s not just the amazing massage or facial you received that keeps you coming back for more, but all the little details of the whole experience.
I could probably write a whole page of the things I adore about the spa. There’s the flavored water and warm wash cloths in the dimly-lit waiting rooms, and the big fluffy robes fit for a queen. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you. What I really love about the spa is the sense of relaxation and wellness that accompanies all the little luxuries. The smells, the sounds (or lack thereof) and the pampering allows us to take a step back and appreciate the moment.
So I got to thinking… why not use that spa simplicity as a wedding theme? I’m envisioning a ceremony and reception with earthy colors and the use of river stone rocks and water. How wonderful to be a guest and find glass pitchers of cucumber water and orange mint water at your reception table! You could even incorporate spa cuisine into your dinner menu, which is healthy but oh-so yummy. Maybe feature a lovely personalized lotion or bath salt as your favors.
I know a wedding is great to time to party down, but it can also be a wonderful time to get all your friends and family together to relax and feel pampered and luxurious. Don’t forget that a spa themed wedding must mean the day is started with actual spa treatments!! Mmm…

…But These Are The Fun Kind!
This week I decided to focus on more than just one idea to hopefully inspire you for your wedding. Maybe you don’t need to use them all, but perhaps you might find one something you’d like to incorporate into your day and the events leading up to it. Hope you enjoy!
Balloons! Balloons everywhere, at all different heights. Maybe all in your wedding colors, all of one color even monochromatically displayed. I love how the color theme below reminds me of champagne bubbles…which are known for celebration!

Hanging paper decor. Feeling crafty? How hard could it be, right? Just pretend it’s like stringing popcorn during the holidays, only using round paper circles to create several beautiful mobiles to hang over tables, over the bar, or over the dance floor. Oooh hoo pretty!

Origami place cards. Time consuming, maybe - but if you work on them just a few at a time, leading up to your day maybe it won’t feel so tedious! Keep them stored in a box and when your wedding day arrives, they’ll be ready to impress!

Want to give your bridesmaids a little something sexy as a thank you for your bachelorette party? What if you stuffed these hot little fishnet favor bags with an adorable pair of panties?

Paint chips. Make bookmarks out of them to give your bridesmaids so they can find their dresses or accessories in the correct colors of your wedding. Or, let them decide which shade is their favorite and have them pick their own hot finds to wear on the big day! When they’re done, they’ll have a fun little bookmark keepsake.

When selecting a theme for your wedding you can choose something as simple and understated as “romantic and intimate” or something as bold and colorful as a Moroccan feast. But most couples select a look somewhere in the middle. Whatever your theme, weave it subtly.
Take a look at this event that took place on the Malibu Pier in CA; the location set the tone for the wedding. The couple used the palette of the pier and ocean - white and blue to anchor their event, while weaving touches of nautical accents. Anchor-printed coasters dressed the tables, but with tasteful stripes filling most of the paper space. Jars of starfish with coordinating striped ribbon trim decked the deck. As guests experienced the evening, the stripes hid among all sorts of elements, from the base of the bridal gown, and the groom’s tie to the cookie tower for dessert. The flags atop the cookies brought the guests back to the theme of being out on the ocean and the flip-flops are of course fitting of the coastal setting. But no one nautical element is too overdone. The stripes, the sea, and the palette peak in and out of the event so guests can enjoy the full experience and locale without feeling like they are at a kids’ party.
When you incorporate your surroundings, or any theme for that matter, you don’t have to serve boat-shaped butter and send out a miniature life raft as an invitation. It’s the little things make the big difference.
